Kathrin Schmid studied photography and media & arts in Zurich and Berlin and graduated in 2015 with a Master of Fine Arts from ZHdK in Zurich with a focus on experimental narrative strategies in documentary film. After completing her studies, she transitioned into film production, gaining experience in various roles, including working on set. Internships followed, several years as a production assistant in various production companies in Germany and Switzerland, and finally post-production management, including for the internationally successful documentary BLUE NOTE RECORDS - BEYOND THE NOTES. Furthermore, she worked as an assistant director for the filmmakers Michael Hofmann, Jürgen Brügger and Jörg Haassengier, as well as for the theatre director Milo Rau. 
Today, she primarily works as an editor for series and TV films, with a particular passion for trailers. The first feature-length documentary she edited, SEDIMENTE, was screened last year, among others, at DOK Leipzig and received the Special Prize in the National Competition at Vision du Réel in Nyon.
